One dead, two injured in area collisions
A collision on Highway 190 at Road 168 left one person dead and another injured, while a solo vehicle accident south of Porterville left a 24-year-old Delano resident with moderate injuries this weekend.
The fatal collision occurred at just after 6 a.m. Sunday when the victim failed to stop at Highway 190 as he approached from the south on Road 168, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The name of the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not released, nor was his age or hometown.
The driver of the second vehicle, Garman Arroyo-Gomez, 36, of Porterville, reportedly suffered major injuries. He was taken to Sierra View District Hospital.
According to the CHP, the force of the collision sent the first vehicle spinning into a power pole at the southwest corner of the intersection.
The second collision occurred at 6:20 a.m. Saturday at Avenue 4 and Road 188. Rafael Trujillo, 24, of Delano was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup eastbound on Avenue 4 and took a sharp curve at too high a speed. His vehicle left the roadway and impacted a large brick pillar used for a private property gate.
Trujillo reportedly suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center.
