Lindsay woman dead after crashing car on Highway 99

A 50-year-old Lindsay woman whose car collided with a guardrail on Highway 99 near Earlimart early Thursday, died due to cardiac reasons, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department reports.

The woman, identified by the Tulare County Coroner’s Office as Brenda King, had been driving her Nissan Versa southbound on Highway 99 at approximately 4:30 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a witness reported he saw King’s car pass his at about 65 mph. He then saw King’s car switch lanes, from the fast lane to the slow lane. For unknown reasons, the Nissan continued to the right and collided with a wood or metal guardrail. The car then traveled to the right and came to rest on southbound Highway 99, north of Avenue 48, along the right shoulder facing a southeasterly direction.

When the Tulare County Fire Department arrived on scene, King was found unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
