Motorcyclist injured in near collision
A Porterville man was injured Wednesday night when he lost control of his motorcycle as he attempted to avoid a collision, the Porterville Police Department reported.
According to the PPD report, motorcyclist Phillip Herrera, 38, was traveling northbound on Westwood Street approaching Kanai Avenue.
Porterville resident Clarito Grande, 60, was traveling southbound on Westwood Street and began a left hand turn on to Kanai Avenue.
Herrera fell on to the roadway and sustained moderate injuries as he attempted to avoid a collision with Grande's vehicle, the PPD report stated.
PPD officers responded to a report of the traffic accident at 8:19 p.m.
Herrera was transported to Sierra View District Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported and alcohol was not a factor in this incident.
