Crime blotter 11/09/12

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Injury Traffic Collision / Hit-and-Run / DUI

Officers responded to the intersection of Prospect Street and Highway 190 for a hit-and-run, roll-over traffic collision. The collision occurred when Richard Henderson, 32, failed to yield the right of way to a delivery van and the vehicles collided. The delivery van rolled over, and Henderson fled the scene. The driver of the delivery van was transported to Sierra View District Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Henderson was located in the area of Newcomb Street and Morton Avenue by Porterville police officers and stopped when his vehicle struck the curb. As officers attempted to apprehend Henderson, he backed up and struck a police vehicle. Officers were then able to take Henderson into custody without further incident. Henderson displayed signs of being under the influence and was booked at the TCSO Main Jail in Visalia.

DUI

A Porterville police officer observed a drunk driver at Prospect Street and Henderson Avenue who rear-ended another vehicle. A traffic stop was made and the driver, Mauricio Moreira, 23, displayed signs of intoxication. Moreira was arrested for DUI and was booked at the TCSO substation. The driver who was rear-ended by Moreira was not located or identified.

Residential burglary

Officers responded to the 600 block of South Creekside Street regarding a residential burglary. The victim stated that suspect(s) gained entry through her window and ransacked a bedroom. The victim reported that the suspects stole jewelry and cameras.

Felony Warrant

An officer contacted Victor Ramos, 33, at Greg’s Express Lube Car Wash on Olive Avenue. Ramos had an active felony warrant for burglary and was arrested without incident. He was later booked at Main Jail.
