Adventist Health opens Wound Healing Center
HANFORD — Kings and Tulare county patients now have access to a comprehensive center for treatment of non-healing wounds, with the opening of the Adventist Health/Wound Healing Center on Mall Drive in Hanford. With advanced equipment, including two hyperbaric chambers, the center is one of the most convenient, comprehensive and sophisticated wound facilities in the region.
“The Wound Healing Center is another example of Adventist Health’s commitment to providing our patients with high-quality, comprehensive care,” said Wayne Ferch, president and chief executive officer of Adventist Health/Central Valley Network. “This center will provide important services for patients throughout the Valley.”
The hyperbaric chambers, where patients receive pure oxygen to speed up the healing of their wounds, provide a more advanced treatment option for those who qualify for the procedure. The hyperbaric oxygen chambers work by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure. This increase in the amount of oxygen stimulates the tissues and helps the wounds heal more quickly. The only physical sensation resulting from the treatment is a slight pressure on the eardrum, such as that felt when an airplane lands, as the air chamber is pressurized.
“The greatest benefit of the oxygen is that it has a therapeutic effect long after the patient has left the chamber,” added Dr. Charles Craft, Wound Healing Center medical director.
Dr. Craft and other board-certified physicians work together at the center to provide a multidisciplinary approach to chronic wound issues. Physician specialties include general surgery, podiatry and vascular surgery. The center is also staffed with highly skilled nurses experienced in wound care.
“People with non-healing wounds, which have not improved with other treatments, no longer have to suffer,” Dr. Craft said. “Using leading-edge technologies, the team at the Wound Healing Center is devoted to healing problem wounds and to helping restore overall health.”
The Wound Healing Center, located at 125 Mall Drive on the third floor of the Hanford Medical Pavilion, Suite 313, next to Adventist Medical Center, welcomes new patients and most insurance plans. Appointments may be scheduled within 24 hours. For more information, call 559-537-2690 or visit www.AdventistHealthCV.com.
