Former Yosemite employee pleads guilty to embezzlement

FRESNO — Mary Alice Walk, 61, of Midpines, pleaded guilty Monday to theft of government property, U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.

According to court documents, Walk was employed by the National Park Service in the Yosemite National Park between October 2008 and June 2009. During that time, Walk charged $32,820 of personal expenses to government credit cards that had been issued to her for making official government purchases.

Walk is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Anthony W. Ishii at 10 a.m. April 15. She faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
