Pianist Jared Fischer to perform Tuesday
Porterville College Music and Porterville Friends of Music are presenting a special recital of pianist Jared Fischer at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Porterville First Congregational Church
For the past several summers, Fischer has been a member of the ‘faculty’ of artists-in-residence that Porterville College brings to the campus to work with local string students at Porterville College’s summer music camp — Porterville Summer Strings.
Fischer, a graduate of the Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music, is currently auditioning for graduate fellowships and assistantships at various universities around the country, including San Francisco State University.
“He is superbly trained, and seems to play effortlessly,” said Porterville College Music Professor David Hensley. “His program will include works of J.S. Bach, Bartok, Schubert, Chopin, and others.”
The event is free and open to the public, however a free-will offering will be collected to defray Fischer’s transportation expenses from Indiana.
Porterville 1st Congregational Church is located at the corner of Fourth Street and Mill Avenue. For more information call 791-2255.
