Duplex fire causes $40,000 damage
Local residents were not injured after a fire partially engulfed a duplex Friday night in the 200 block of South Kessing.
The Porterville Fire Department responded at 7:40 p.m. to a report of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, they found a partially involved duplex with heavy fire coming from the front door and window of one unit. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in approximately 20 minutes.
Responding to the fire were four vehicles and 17 firefighters from Porterville Fire Department, and one engine and five firefighters from Tulare County Fire.
Damage was estimated at $40,000. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
