Porterville man found dead after garage fire
The body of a 33-year-old Porterville man has been found after a garage fire broke out in the 300 block of South C Street.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 3:36 a.m. early Sunday morning. The Porterville Fire Department reports that arriving firefighters found a multi-garage unit attached to an apartment complex on fire with one person inside.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and confirmed the man was dead.
Coy Farnsworth, PFD’s public education officer, said the cause of death is unknown, pending autopsy.
Damage to the structure has been estimated at $20,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
