Name of woman who died in fire released
Authorities reported Gerri Cranley died in the kitchen of her home Monday afternoon.
The 51-year-old Porterville woman was found dead just before 4 p.m. by Porterville Police Department officers at her home in the 1300 block of West Morton Avenue.
Working with the Porterville Fire Department, detectives determined the woman had inadvertently caught her clothing on fire, dying as a result of her injuries.
There were no signs of foul play or a crime, and fire investigators and the Tulare County Coroner’s Office took control of the scene.
An autopsy confirmed the findings.
Services are pending at Myers Funeral Service and Crematory.
