Fire engulfs abandoned structure

Porterville and Tulare County Fire are responding to a fully-engulfed structure fire in the 200 block of West Orange Avenue.

The fire was reported at approximately 4:30 p.m. and as of 4:50 p.m. continues to burn out of control, with flames shooting into the air 10 to 30 feet.

As the building collapsed unto itself and determined to be a complete loss, firefighters worked on placing a stream of water on a neighboring apartment complex, keeping it wet for protection.

In addition, Orange Street has been closed to traffic from F Street to G Street.
