Vehicle catches on fire due to faulty battery charger

A 1999 Freightliner street sweeper caught fire Saturday, lighting 200 feet of grass on fire in a private lot.
According to the Tulare County Fire Department, units responded to the fire located at 20400 Avenue 184 at approximately 4:55 p.m. and contained both fires.
An investigation revealed the cause of the fire to be a faulty battery charger left unattended and attached to the vehicle.
No one was injured and damage to the sweeper was an estimated $20,000.
