Crime blotter 1/13/13

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Sunday, Jan. 13

False Information to a Peace Officer / Felony Warrant
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Doree Street and Grand Avenue. A female driver provided a false name. The female was identified as Teresa Navarro, 21, had four misdemeanor warrants and a felony warrant. Navarro was subsequently transported to the Tulare County Jail.

Attempt Auto Theft / Burglary
Officers responded to the 300 block of North Lotas Street regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim reported his 2000 Ford Expedition was parked in front of a friend’s residence and returned to his vehicle today discovering it had been burglarized. During the investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle had been moved and the steering column had damage. The victim advised his stereo was missing from the vehicle.

Burglary
Officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of North Prospect Street regarding a residential burglary. It appeared the suspects used bodily force to enter the southeast bedroom window of the residence. The suspects took electronic items, watches, sunglasses, a large amount of jewelry and money.

Warrant Service
Officers contacted Janie Baldwin, 37, at a residence in the 1400 block of North Cottage Place regarding a verbal altercation. She had an active/confirmed warrant which was served at that time. She was released at the scene on a cite to appear in court.
