Juvenile gang member arrested

A 16-year-old was apprehended Friday night, in the area of the Porterville Fairgrounds and, according to a Tulare County Sheriff’s news release, was found to be in possession of a concealed and deadly weapon.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., the juvenile, whose name has been withheld, was detained by deputies. He is reportedly a known member of the Northern Gang.

He was arrested at the scene and booked on suspicion of possession of a deadly weapon and gang enhancements.

The case is being investigated by the Tulare county Gang Violence Suppression Unit.
