Teen held following sexual assault

A teenager from Exeter was arrested Sunday on suspicion of raping a 22-year-old woman who had given him a ride.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department said the suspect and victim were attending a celebration with other people in the 500 block of Glenn St. in Exeter Saturday night. At that time, the suspect asked the victim for a ride to the store and diverted the victim to a rural county location through false direction. Through force and intimidation the suspect assaulted the victim sexually against her will, causing injury.

Detectives took the suspect into custody about four hours later. He was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center.
