Crime blotter 2/20/13

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Wednesday, Feb. 20

Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of North Westside Street regarding a burglary. The victim stated subject(s) forced entry into his residence. Entry was made by kicking the garage entry door in the backyard. The subject(s) stole a Marlin bolt action .22 caliber rifle and an antique knife.

Domestic Violence
Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Second Street regarding a domestic disturbance. The victim stated her boyfriend choked her and hit her with a board. The victim had visible injuries around her neck indicating strangulation. The suspect was arrested at the scene and later booked into the Tulare County Jail.

Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the sub-100 block of South A Street regarding a burglary. The victim stated subject(s) forced entry through the back door of his vacant residence’s garage. The subject(s) forced entry into the residence by removing the door from the garage to interior of the house. Once inside, the subject(s) took a gas generator and a cordless drill.

Warrant Service
Federal agents executed a search warrant in the 400 block of North Mathew Street. A large amount of methamphetamine was seized. Patrol officers responded to the scene to assist with a uniformed presence.

Attempt Burglary
Officers were dispatched to Belleview Elementary School regarding a burglary in progress. The reporting party said a subject in a black hooded sweatshirt was breaking a window to a classroom. Officers arrived and setup a perimeter around the school. Officers saw a subject walking through the campus and detained him. The subject was identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile. Officers checked the campus and located a broken window to a classroom. Officers located a metal water valve cover which appeared to have been utilized by the suspect to break the window. Additional investigation linked the juvenile to the incident. He was arrested for attempted burglary and booked at Juvenile Hall.
