Fatal traffic accident

A two car accident involving a big rig and a dark colored van left one man dead Saturday evening in the canal near the intersection of Ave 232 and Road 168.

According to Sergeant Rodney Kennedy of the California Highway Patrol-Visalia, the driver of the big rig, a 41 year old man from Hanford and the unidentified driver in the van were both heading East on California State route 137, when the driver of the big rig stopped at an intersection and prepared to turn northbound. However, the driver of the van passed in the intersection on the left side and hit the rig as it turned left. The driver of the van was declared dead at the scene and the body was turned over to the Sheriff’s office.
