PUSD, SVDH Candidates to speak at forum

Porterville Unified School District and Sierra View District Hospital candidates will have the opportunity to speak on who they are and what issues they are passionate about during a forum Wednesday, Oct. 10, sponsored by Southeastern Tulare County Republican Women Federated.

“Each candidate will have five to seven minutes to tell why they are running,” said Rebecca Gervasi, vice president of SETCO. “After the school and hospital candidates speak, we’ll have 15 minutes of question and answer for the education candidates and 15 minutes for the hospital candidates.”

Only one PUSD candidate, Fred Beltran, said he was not available to attend that evening.

Beltran has a meet-and-greet fundraiser in Terra Bella that was previously scheduled, he said.

Because he can not attend the forum, he wants to inform the public that they can meet him at his next meet and greet social, scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 24, by calling 285-6054.

The forum is open to the public and starts with pizza and salad bar at 5:30 p.m. at Charlies, 1531 N. Main St.

Cost is $15 per person and reservations are requested.

For tickets or more information, call SETCO at the Republican Headquarters, 789-0344.
