THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Three cases of the swine flu, or H1N1, have been confirmed at the Porterville Developmental Center.

The patients, whose names were kept confidential, are still living at the facility, Evonne Gibson, assistant to the executive director at PDC, said Monday.

They are undergoing tamiflu treatment, and their home unit has been placed on restriction, Gibson said.

“All the residents throughout the facility are being closely monitored for signs and symptoms of the flu,” Gibson said.

Because the patients were displaying flu-like symptoms, swabs were sent to the Tulare County Health Department, Gibson said.

Gibson said she was told by TCHD officials the residents’ swabs tested positive Thursday.
