Deputy shoots, kills wanted felon Tuesday afternoon

PIXLEY — Authorities are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Pixley, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The shooting was reported at about 3:41 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect, a white male adult, was pronounced dead in the area of Center Street and Allen Avenue in Pixley.

The man was a wanted felon and the Tulare County Area Regional Gang Enforcement Team had received a tip that he was in the Pixley area, the TCSD reported. Officers from the task force attempted to make contact with the man, who then fled on foot to a dirt lot near Center and Allen.

A task force officer shot the man, TCSD reported. Detectives with the sheriff’s department are handling the investigation. The name of the suspect and the officer have not been released.
