On Thursday, Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward and Supervisor Mike Ennis from the Tulare County Board of Supervisors presented the executive board of the Central California Family Crisis Center with a check worth nearly $6,000.

The money was raised by the district attorney’s Justice Run, which took place last year on Oct. 20.

More than 400 people participated in the annual event which involves a 5K run or a mile-long walk and takes place as part of Domestic Violence Awareness month. The event raised roughly $12,000, which was distributed equally between the Central California Family Crisis Center of Porterville and Family Services of Tulare County in Visalia. The two organizations provide shelter and vital services to victims of domestic violence and their children.

Ward told the board that he will continue to show his support for vulnerable victims and looks forward to a continued collaborative effort in the future, a press release issued Friday by the DA’s office states.
