THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Detectives from the Tulare County Agricultural Crimes Unit investigated the theft of a wood splitter that took place between 11 a.m. and noon March 5 on Road 260 and Avenue 104 in Porterville.

Authorities found the wood splitter, worth an estimated $300, at Central Iron, Metal and Recycling in Porterville, the Ag Crimes Unit reports.

Detectives found Joe Lucio of Ducor on Monday and identified him as the alleged suspect in the property theft. His age was not released.

Their investigation reportedly revealed that the farm equipment was stolen from the property of Joanne Everhart. The stolen wood splitter was recovered by the Ag Crimes Unit and released to Everhart’s representative.

Lucio was arrested, taken to the Tulare County Main Jail and booked on suspicion of theft and receiving stolen property.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact Detective Nathan Polk, 740-4300.
