Crime blotter 2/18/13

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It should be noted that only arrests are reported, and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Monday, Feb. 18

Auto Theft
Officers responded to Walmart regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim’s 2004 white Cadillac Escalade was stolen from the southeast parking area of the business.

Counterfeit Money
Officers responded to Walmart regarding two subjects trying to pass two $100 bills. The subjects left when the cashier went to see a manager. The subjects were described as two Hispanic females in their early 20s. Video of the subjects was available and officers are attempting to identify them.

Auto Theft
Officers responded to 200 block of south Sierra Vista Street regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that her 1997 Geo was taken sometime overnight. A check of the vehicle information found it had been stored early this morning after being involved in a hit-and-run collision.

Petty Theft
Officers responded to the sub-100 block of South A Street regarding a theft of a bicycle from the backyard. Sometime overnight an unknown subject entered the backyard by breaking the fence and took a purple women’s Roadmaster bike.

Residential Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South Jaye Street regarding a residential burglary. The reporting party stated that suspect(s) kicked in the front door to her residence and took a laptop computer and Wii game system. Officers located witnesses and further investigation will be conducted.
