Crime Blotter 10/07/12

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Battery
Charlene Villareal was involved in a fight with her boyfriend’s family members in the 600 block of West LaVida Avenue. Charlene initiated the fight and was subsequently arrested for battery. She was also on active Department of Corrections Parole and a parole warrant was issued. She was booked at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility.

Auto Theft
Mickey Anderson, 25, was involved in an argument with the mother of his children and took her car keys and left the residence in her vehicle. The victim said she didn’t allow Mickey to drive her vehicle. The victim signed a police report form demanding prosecution. Mickey returned the vehicle to the residence and fled to avoid police contact. Mickey was apprehended and booked at the Porterville Substation for Auto Theft.

Vandalism
Officers responded to Starbucks on Henderson Avenue regarding a vandalism report. The reporting party stated that a male subject had been inside the business and appeared as if he was under the influence of alcohol and upset. When he was contacted, he started to argue with customers for no reason. The suspect punched a hole in the bathroom door before leaving the business. The area was checked for the subject but he was not located

Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision
Officers responded to the 800 block of East Kanai Avenue regarding a hit-and-run traffic collision report. The victim stated that he had been informed by his neighbor that a vehicle struck his Chevy Silverado, which was parked in front of his residence. The witnesses described the suspect vehicle and stated it had been traveling eastbound on Kanai when it side swiped the Chevy Silverado.

Domestic Violence, Child Endangerment
Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of South Roche Street regarding a domestic dispute. It was reported that the suspect, German Martinez, 29, had taken his neighbors’ 14-year-old son to the Tulare Swap Meet earlier in the day. During that time, the 14-year-old reported that German was drinking while driving and subsequently abandoned the 14-year-old at a residence in Woodville. He was later transported home by subjects from the Woodville address. The mother of the juvenile confronted German regarding the incident and an argument ensued. German became upset and pushed the mother against the stairs inside their apartment and struck her several times with a closed fist. He also choked her to the extent that she passed out. During the incident, the mother’s 8-year- old daughter tried to intervene and she was struck by German with a closed fist. German fled from the area prior to officers arriving. The victim (the 14-year-old’s mother) was transported to Sierra View District Hospital by ambulance due to her passing out. No medical treatment was needed for the 8-year-old. German is being sought by police regarding this incident.
