PORTERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012
Petty Theft
Officers responded to Kohl’s regarding a report of shoplifting with an uncooperative suspect refusing to allow security to check her purse. Kimberly Freeman, 35, was contacted and subsequently arrested for theft. Almost $200 worth of stolen clothing and jewelry was recovered from her purse.

Domestic Violence
Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Murry Street regarding vandalism. When they arrived, they contacted Gabriela Ruiz, 26, who stated her live-in boyfriend, Jose Armenta, 31, had keyed her car. The investigation revealed that both suspects engaged in an argument that got physical. Both suspects sustained minor injuries from each other. Both suspects were arrested for spousal abuse and later booked at the substation.

Burglary suspect
arrested


Officers completed an investigation regarding a residential burglary. The juvenile suspect was arrested for burglary and booked at the Juvenile Detention Facility.


Domestic Violence


Officers arrested Juan Gonzalez for Domestic Violence after investigating two 911 calls at the residence. It was reported that the suspect slapped his wife leaving injury to her face. The suspect was arrested, booked and housed at the Porterville Substation.

Domestic Violence
Erik Farias, 23, assaulted the mother of his infant child by choking and striking her. The victim had visible injuries consistent with her statement. The suspect disabled the victim’s phone to prevent her from calling 9-1-1. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing, and Farias is being sought by police.


Residential Burglary


Officers investigated a residential burglary in the 1700 block of West Olive Avenue. A suspicious subject was seen in the back of the residence during the previous day. A television and a video game system were taken. Physical evidence was located at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.


Residential Burglary


Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of West La Vida Avenue regarding a residential burglary. Entry was determined to have been made through a side garage door. Two lap top computers and two jewelry boxes full of miscellaneous jewelry were removed from within the residence. The investigation is ongoing.


Warrant / Theft Arrest


Officers were dispatched to Kohl’s regarding a theft that had just occurred. Officers contacted the female suspect outside the store and detained her. She was identified as Jazmin Dupon, 22,  and had (2) warrants for petty theft and check fraud. She was also in possession of approximately $100 of stolen clothing items. Dupon was arrested for Petty Theft with a Prior and her warrant charges. She was booked at Bob Wiley Detention Facility.


Public Intoxication


Officers contacted a subject lying on the sidewalk in the area of Oak Avenue and Second Street. The male was wearing only a pair of shorts and appeared to have fallen as his glasses were broken on the sidewalk. He was very intoxicated and could not care for his safety. He was medically cleared and booked at the substation.
