Crime Blotter 08/28/12

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012
Fraud
Officers responded to CVS Pharmacy at 1155 W. Henderson Ave. regarding a fraud report. The investigation revealed that a female suspect entered the store, walked to the Pharmacy counter, and paid with over $200 in counterfeit bills. Evidence was collected at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Theft
Officers responded to Walmart regarding the theft of a Sony 40” flat screen television. Witnesses and video surveillance provided a description of the suspect. Follow-up investigation is being conducted to identify and arrest the suspect.

Located Stolen Vehicle
Officers were in the 200 block of Henry Street and recovered a stolen vehicle. Evidence was collected from the scene and the case remains under investigation.

Public Intoxication
Officers responded to Super 7 regarding an unwanted subject in front of the store. Officers contacted 34-year-old Andrew Robinson, who was extremely intoxicated. Robinson had been arrested yesterday for Public Intoxication. Robinson was arrested again for Public Intoxication and was transported to Main Jail in Visalia for booking.

Burglary, Domestic Violence, False Imprisonment, Child Endangerment, Criminal Threats
Officers responded to the 400 block of South A Street regarding domestic violence. The victim reported that her ex-boyfriend forced his way into her residence by kicking the back door in. Once inside, the victim tried to call the police on her cell phone, but the suspect took the phone away. During the incident, the victim was holding a 3-month-old child. The victim tried to flee the house, but the suspect stopped her and began assaulting her. The victim fell to the ground while holding the infant and the suspect continued to assault her. The suspect fled the house when the victim began screaming for police. The suspect is being sought by police and the case remains under investigation.

Parole Warrant Arrest
Officers responded to the 900 block of North Esther Street regarding service of arrest warrants for 28-year-old Francisco Ledesma. He had two active misdemeanor warrants and a parole warrant. Ledesma was contacted at the residence and taken into custody without incident.

Auto Theft
Officers responded to the 1700 block of West Olive Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim reported a burglary last night and stated the keys to her vehicle were stolen at that time. Later in the evening her vehicle was also taken.

Auto Theft
Officers responded to the 2000 block of West Harrison Avenue regarding an auto theft report. The victim stated suspect(s) stole his GMC pickup from his driveway. The case remains under investigation.

Attempted Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale, Possession of Prohibited Weapons (brass knuckles), Possession of an Illegal Knife (switch-blade), and Participation in a Criminal Street Gang
Officers responded to the alleyway behind the 300 block of North Third regarding subjects attempting to break into a storage shed at Iglesia Del Nazareno. The storage SeaTrain was located behind the church. Officers contacted the suspects, Cesar Mancera and Raymond Perez, in a vehicle parked in the area. During a search of the suspects, several ecstasy pills were located on Mancera and a pair of brass knuckles and a switchblade were found on Perez. During the search of the vehicle, methamphetamine, and numerous burglary tools were located. Mancera and Perez were arrested and booked.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon / Criminal Threats
Officers responded to the 300 block of North Third Street regarding a battery report. The victim stated that the suspect, Magnum Burrell, brandished a knife and metal pipe at the victim. Burrell then struck the victim on the head with the pipe causing a laceration. Burrell fled the scene on foot prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing and Burrell is being sought by police.

Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers contacted 39-year-old Kurt Sanchez in the 400 block of West Olive Avenue regarding an unwanted subject call. He was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was taken into custody.
