DUI suspect arrested after early morning crash
A Porterville man involved in a single-vehicle crash is in custody on suspicion of drunken driving.
The crash occurred just after 12 a.m. Thursday, at East Springville Drive, west of South Conner St. The California Highway Patrol reports Arthur Almos was driving a sedan east on East Springville Drive at about 55 mph when he made an unsafe turn and traveled onto the south dirt shoulder. Almos lost control of the car and the sedan continued in a southeasterly direction, eventually colliding with a chain link fence, a tree, a second chain link fence, a cement post, and finally a light post, the CHP said.
As a result of the crash, Almos’ two passengers, Armando Garay, 26, and Hector Vargas, 20, both of Porterville, sustained moderate injuries. Garay was taken to Sierra View District Hospital and Vargas to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia for treatment.
Almos suffered minor injuries and was taken to SVDH. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI.
