Special election for state senate seat is May 21

Tulare County Registrar of Voters, Rita A. Woodard, is reminding Tulare County residents that a special primary election for state senate District 16 will be May 21.

Candidates were allowed to start gathering signatures in lieu of the filing fee on Friday.

Petition forms may be picked up from the Tulare County Elections Office located at 5951 S. Mooney Blvd. in Visalia.  

The deadline for signatures-in-lieu is March 22.

The nonrefundable filing fee and/or signatures-in-lieu must be presented at the time the candidate picks up the nomination packet during the nomination period.

Nomination papers for the office to be voted on at the May 21 special primary election will be available through March 29.

Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 29.
