The Board of Equalization reported this month that most properties in Tulare County are properly assessed and the overall quality of the assessment roll, representing approximately $27.4 billion in value, meets state standards.

The Tulare County Assessment Practices Survey Report addresses the quality of the 2010-11 Tulare County assessment roll and presents 13 recommendations for improving the Tulare County assessor’s programs. It also includes the assessor’s responses to the recommendations, which can be found in the report.

The Tulare County assessor is Roland Hill of Porterville.

Surveying the state’s 58 county assessor’s practices fulfills the BOE’s mission of promoting statewide consistency in property tax assessment. The BOE reviews each county’s property tax assessment practices every five years and publishes a report.
