Kern County sheriff's son could face charges in Tulare County
The Tulare County District Attorney is deciding whether to press charges against Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood’s son.
Aaron Youngblood, 25, was arrested Tuesday night when Kern County sheriffs allegedly found him to be in possession of drugs and illegal weapons.
He was released from custody and the case was handed to the Kern County District Attorney who handed it back to the sheriff’s department for further investigation. To avoid any conflicts of interest, the case was then forwarded Wednesday to the Tulare County District Attorney.
Jenkins could not venture as to when the district attorney’s office will finish its investigation.
“At this point the case is under investigation,” Tulare County Assistant District Attorney Shani Jenkins. “No charges have been filed at this time.”
Kern County sheriffs responded to a domestic dispute call at 9:50 p.m. in Tupman when Aaron Youngblood, who was at the scene, asked to report vandalism that happened to his White Chevy truck. While taking the report, deputies could see in plain view two modified wooden clubs, authorities report.
They subsequently searched the vehicle and found a concealed, loaded handgun. They also searched Aaron Youngblood and found him to be in possession of alleged illegal narcotics.
Lab tests have not yet revealed the type of drugs he was allegedly carrying, sheriff spokesperson Deputy Michael Whorf said.
Sheriff Donny Youngblood was not available for comment Friday and has not made any statements to the media as the investigation is ongoing.
