Local officials are hosting a second meeting of the newly formed Tulare County Gang Prevention Task Force at 1 p.m. on Thursday. The task force is designed to help stem the flow of gang activity and violence.
“Tulare County needs a plan that combines the four key components of community, individual, religion and law enforcement to help focus on curbing gang activities at all age levels,” said Supervisor Phil Cox.
Tulare County has enlisted the support of non-profit organizations Community Services, Employee, Training; Court Appointed Special Advocate of Tulare County and Self Help Enterprises for their unique pulse in the communities.
Faith-based organizations have also been asked to join the newly formed task force for their perspective in the county. Many have offered to join the county in its fight against gang activities.
Tulare County SheriffÂ’s Department and the Visalia Police Department are assisting the Board of Supervisors with the task force to help make Tulare County a safer place to live and work.
The meeting begins at 1 p.m. in the Plum Room in the Workforce Investment Department building, 4025 W. Noble Ave., Visalia.
