Lindsay council members assigned to slew of committees
The Lindsay City Council committee assignments were announced Tuesday night at the first meeting of the new year.
According to Mayor Ramona Villarreal-Padilla the assignments were mostly on a volunteer basis.
Villarreal-Padilla joined the Healthy Kids and Healthy Lindsay committee, as well as the valley-wide Special City Selection Committee of the San Joaquin Valley Air Board, the group which selects the representatives for the SJVAB Governing Board.
“I’m ready, willing, excited and eager to start,” said Villarreal-Padilla.
Villarreal-Padilla said she joined the committees in order to familiarize herself with the workings of the boards and how they affect Lindsay.
Danny Salinas, Lindsay’s new mayor pro tem, became a member of the Tulare County Economic Development Corporation and the council’s health care committee.
Council member Pam Kimball will return to the Tulare County Association of Governments, Measure R, and Healthy Kids and Healthy Lindsay committees. She has been a member of TCAG since 2005, of Measure R since 2009 and Healthy Kids and Healthy Lindsay since 2002. She also joined the council’s health care committee.
“I’m very happy to continue on in the boards that I’m on,” said Kimball.
There are no term limits on the committees.
New council member Rosaena Sanchez was assigned to the Consolidated Waste Management committee and the valley-wide Special City Selection Committee of the SJVAB.
A first-timer on the boards, she is ready.
“I’m excited. I’m going to bring back as much information as possible,” Sanchez said.
Council member Steven Mecum was assigned to the Tulare County Economic Development Corporation and the Consolidated Waste Management committees.
