Oil well drilling before county planners
The Tulare County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing Wednesday before allowing an oil well to be drilled at Deer Creek Field on an approximate 12-acre site in an area that is zoned exclusive agricultural.
The site is located on the east side of Main Street, approximately 1,200 feet north of Avenue 104, north of Terra Bella.
Also, on the commission’s consent calendar — untimed items that may be taken up at any time during the meeting — is approving an extension of time for a permit for the establishment of a Sikh temple on an approximate 5-acre site at 1250 West North Grand Ave., just west of Prospect Road in Porterville.
Additionally, the commission is set to consider a two-year extension of time for a permit to allow the addition of a car wash and vacuum station to a proposed gas station and convenience store and a future restaurant and motel on an almost 3-acre site on the northeast corner of Highway 65 and Avenue 196 in Strathmore.
The commission is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, in the Board of Supervisors chambers, 2800 W. Burrel Ave., in Visalia.
