Snow closes major highways

Interstate 5 over the Grapevine was closed for a while early this morning, but is now open, the California Department of Transportation reports.

Highway 58 over Tehachapi was also closed and remains closed.

The storm that many expected two days ago finally arrived Thursday night and brought a good amount of rain and snow to the mountains. The snow level was reported to be around 4,000 feet.

I-5 was closed about 2 a.m., while Highway 58 was not closed until after 6 a.m.

While I-5 is open, motorists are advised to expect delays.
