Council has special meeting Tuesday

The Porterville City Council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.

The sole topic on the agenda is a public hearing on the topic of a motion that will make a “comprehensive text amendment to the Porterville Municipal Code pertaining to Chapter 21, Development Ordinance”.

The council will meet in a closed session to discuss anticipated litigation.

Residents will be given an opportunity to address the council on topics that are not on the agenda in three oral communications sessions. Those who would like to speak on the subject of the Porterville Development Ordinance are encouraged to attend.

The public hearing has been scheduled because the Environmental Coordinator has made the determination, on the basis of a large amount of evidence, that the addendum to the Porterville General Plan Final Environmental Impact Report, prepared for the adoption of the Development Ordinance, is “appropriate in addressing the environmental circumstances of the proposed amendments.”

Due to this finding, no subsequent or supplemental EIR, as described in Sections 15162 and 15163 of the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines, would be required.

Copies of the amended document are on file at City Hall in the Community Development Department, Planning Division.
