Artistic senior named Citrus Student of the Month
Citrus High School senior Amanda Shields has been selected as Citrus Student of the Month.
Shields is on track to graduate this year with an excellent attendance record, positive attitude and responsible work habits in the classroom, Citrus staff said.
Recently, Shields served as a counselor for the sixth grade campers at SCICON and received an excellent evaluation from SCICON staff for her work there.
Through volunteer work with REACT, she has helped with the Apple Festival and Porterville Fair, and is a former member of Job’s Daughters.
She has also served as secretary for FFA and is currently an active participant in the Greenhouse Management class at Citrus.
Shields’ hobbies include ice skating and drawing.
She has received numerous awards for her artwork, which has been displayed in county and district exhibits.
Shields hopes to pursue a career in interior design.
She is the daughter of Sherri and Jesse Shields.
