Construction Zone and Safety field trip

Parents and children involved in the Family Literacy Early Childhood Education Program from Owens Valley Career Development Center in Porterville pose for a photo after visiting the construction zone on Feb. 27 at the new courthouse location. The parents and children learned about on-the-job equipment and safety. ECE classes educate parents and children on the fundamentals of early education. With a theme of ‘Construction Zone and Safety,’ the field trip offered a presentation by Jerry Avalos, construction management project manager. Nuten Windberg, safety director, also explained the importance of safety at the construction zone and allowed the children to view and wear the proper on-the-job equipment, including hard hats and safety glasses.
