Local man found guilty in child molestation, rape case
Porterville resident Roberto Moreno faces a maximum sentence of 99 years to life in state prison for rape and child molestation.
On Thursday, a jury found 45-year-old Moreno guilty of seven counts of child molestation, eight counts of forcible child molestation, one count of rape, and one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The jury also found true the special allegation that Moreno engaged in substantial sexual conduct with a child under the age of 14.
Sentencing is set for Nov. 16 in front of Judge Valeriano Saucedo.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Melissa Chabra and investigated by Detective Titus of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, as well as Investigator Brandon Hall of the Tulare County DA’s Office, Bureau of Investigations.
