Merced suspect jailed in child molestation case

A Central Valley man was jailed on suspicion of abusing a child in a case that began mid-month.

Robert Michael Galindo, 22, was arrested on suspicion of committing lewd and lascivious acts against a juvenile victim during 2008 and 2009.

The victim, who lives in the Alpaugh area, reportedly told authorities about the alleged abuse at 12:30 p.m. July 11.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was living in the Merced area.

Deputies found, arrested and transported Galindo to the Tulare County Main Jail. He was booked on suspicion of attempted oral copulation, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age, continuous sexual abuse of a minor, distribution of exhibition of lewd material to a minor and corporal injury to a child.

Information on the case was released Wednesday.
