Woman accused of DUI causing injury
A 39-year-old Porterville woman accused of drunken driving is behind bars.
The Porterville Police Department reports that at about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the Plano Street bridge at the Tule River, regarding an injury car crash.
When officers arrived, they learned the woman, identified as Aurora Terriquez, had been driving southbound on Plano Street, crossing the bridge, when she swerved into the northbound lane and crashed into a northbound car.
The driver of the northbound car sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to Sierra View District Hospital via ambulance.
She was later treated and released for her injuries.
Terriquez was not injured. She was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and later booked into the Tulare County Jail on suspicion of DUI causing injury.
