Man was on cell phone when car crashed into pole Sunday
The California Highway Patrol says the driver of a car that crashed into a power pole Sunday morning was on his cell phone.
The crash happened around 11:35 a.m. on Avenue 160, east of Road 212. The CHP says 23-year-old Ruben Sanchez of Porterville, was driving his car east on Avenue 160 at an unknown speed while talking on a cell phone, when his car veered off the road and onto the dirt shoulder.
Sanchez lost control of the car and collided into a power pole. Sanchez sustained minor injuries and was taken to Sierra View District, the CHP reports. One of his two passengers, identified as Sonya Sanchez, was moderately injured and taken to Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia.
