Body found in canal near Woodlake
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department dive and rescue team recovered a body from the Friant-Kern canal Monday.
The incident was called in just before 10 a.m. by an employee with the Friant Water Authority who noticed a figure caught on the buoy line in the canal, near the intersection of Millwood Drive and Avenue 344, the sheriff’s department said. The employee called authorities and deputies responded and confirmed the report.
The sheriff’s dive and rescue team recovered the body at noon. The person’s identity, gender, and cause of death are unknown and pending further investigation.
