Off-duty Lindsay officer foils burglary
Two people are in custody after their burglary attempt was foiled by an off-duty lieutenant with the Lindsay Public Safety Department.
The incident happened at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of West North Grand Avenue.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department reports that the lieutenant detained the two until deputies arrived.
According to the sheriff’s department, the off-duty officer said he saw the pair at a home at which he knew they did not reside.
The two were detained and during the investigation, officers recovered a stolen stove at the suspects’ home. Additional items worth $175 were still missing, the sheriff’s department reports.
The stove, with an estimated value of $400, was returned to the owner.
The suspects, identified as 46-year-old Charles Tucker and 42-year-old Michelle Hicks, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property.
Tucker was additionally booked for an active no-bail warrant for violation of post-release community supervision.
Hicks was booked for two warrants and is being held in lieu of $50,000.
