Crime blotter 12/30/12

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Burglary / Auto Theft
Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of East Kanai Avenue regarding an interrupted burglary to a residential garage and an attempted theft of a motorcycle. The reporting party stated she heard noises coming from her garage and when she looked out the window, she observed a subject pushing her husband’s motorcycle out of their garage toward a vehicle that was parked in front of their residence. The reporting party then went outside to confront the subject, at which time the suspect dropped the motorcycle, got into a truck, and fled eastbound on Kanai Avenue toward Plano Street. Physical evidence was located at the crime scene and the case remains under investigation.

Trespassing / Vandalism
Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of West Tomah Avenue regarding vandalism to the inside of a vacant residence. The victim reported that sometime within the last week, someone entered the vacant residence through an already-broken rear sliding-glass door and spray-painted the inside of the residence’s walls with black spray paint in every room. The case remains under investigation.

Vehicle Burglary
Officers investigated a vehicle burglary, which occurred at Holy Cross Church. Unidentified suspects punched the victim’s door lock and took cash, keys, jewelry and a navigation system.

Residential Burglary
Officers investigated the report of a residential burglary in the 500 block of North Second Street. The incident occurred between noon and 9 p.m. A flat screen television, jewelry, and a Nintendo game system were taken during the crime. Entry was apparently made through a kitchen window. Physical evidence was located at the scene.

Burglary to a School
Officers investigated a burglary at Olive Street School. Two computer monitors, six Dell projectors, six computer speakers, an air compressor, a cordless drill and a mini refrigerator were among items missing from a storage room. Physical evidence was located at the scene and the case remains under investigation.

Residential Burglary
Officers investigated a residential burglary which occurred sometime during the past week in the 100 block of East Willow Avenue. A flat screen television, two DVD players, jewelry, coins and other miscellaneous items were taken

Auto Theft
Officers were dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 300 block of South F Street. The victim’s vehicle, a tan 1995 Honda Accord, was taken sometime during the night.

Disturbing the Peace
Officers responded two times to the 600 block of West Putnam Avenue regarding a tenant, Irene Garcia, 41, intoxicated and causing a disturbance with multiple neighbors. A citizen’s arrest form was completed and Garcia was arrested for disturbing the peace. She was booked and housed at the Bob Wiley detention Facility.
