Pedestrian struck and killed

Police: Alcohol not a factor in accident.

A 15-year-old boy was killed Tuesday when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Jaye Street and Highway 190, Porterville Police Department said in a news release today.

Police said the boy was walking north along Highway 190 at a little before 11:30 p.m. when he stepped in front of the vehicle going west on 190.

The boy was taken to Sierra View District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the accident was not the driver’s fault and that alcohol was not involved.

Police did not identify the driver or the victim.
