Contract awarded on Trail of 100 Giants boardwalk
A contract has been awarded and work should begin as soon as weather permits on the boardwalk planned for the Trail of 100 Giants in the Giant Sequoia National Monument.
Sequoia National Forest Supervisor Kevin Elliott said the project should take most of the summer, but the popular tourist spot will remain open.
The boardwalk is being constructed over a giant sequoia tree that fell in October of 2011.
Officials decided to construct the boardwalk instead of removing the huge tree.
