Skate, bike event set for March 17 at Veterans Park

A skateboard and bike competition — Porterville Pregnancy Resource Center Skate and Bike for Life 2012 — is set for March 17 at the Skate Park at Veterans Park.

Registration will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on March 17 with the event running from noon to 5 p.m. For more on information, call 781-1225, 310-2737 or 310-2719. Genesis Bikes of Porterville is the event sponsor.

Embassador Skate Team will be conducting demonstrations and providing testimony. First and second place awards will be given out in Best Trick/Freestyle Skateboard and Best Trick/Freestyle Bike in the following boys and girls age groups: 8-12, 13-17 and 18-and-over.

There will also be drawings for raffle prizes.

Parent signature will be required if competitor is a minor. Helmets are also required.

Sponsor packets are available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Porterville Pregnancy Center, 64 W. Putnam Ave., Porterville.
