Stephen Baldwin to give Man Alive's keynote
Fourth annual Christian men's conference to take place at new venue
Stephen Baldwin, actor, author, and born-again Christian, will be the keynote speaker of the fourth annual Man Alive Christian Men’s Conference.
The multi-denominational event, designed “To encourage, challenge, and equip men for biblical leadership,” is set to take place Saturday, Jan. 26 at La Mision de Jesus Church, 765 W. Henderson Ave.
Event organizers have strategically scheduled the event to land on the weekend between the NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl, so as to attract a larger crowd of men.
Brad Davis, the event’s producer, said that in booking a speaker, organizers were looking for a more dynamic personality.
“In the past they’ve always targeted men our age. This time, we wanted someone more dynamic and someone who related to everyone,” Davis said.
Jason Castle, the event’s media relations coordinator, described Baldwin as “on fire for God.”
Baldwin has appeared in more than 60 films, a number of TV programs and owns a production company. He is involved with a number of nonprofit groups and Christian ministries, speaks frequently at conferences and events and is known for being outspoken about his faith.
This year’s conference will offer 21 breakout seminars, including two in Spanish, on topics ranging from becoming the best husband to becoming a better disciple. All breakout sessions will be led by area pastors and leaders.
Those in attendance will also have an opportunity to win a custom 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle when purchasing a raffle ticket. Tickets will be $25 each, or five for $100 and ticket sales will close at around noon.
Castle said that all proceeds will carry over to the 2014 Man Alive conference and toward making it “bigger and better.”
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with a welcome and praise music by the Man Alive Band led by Henry Serrato starting at 9 a.m.
The event will also have books and merchandise for sale, giveaways, and resource booths.
In addition, teen boys will have special sessions and music by Testifie and Christlike Souljas ministries.
Milt Davis, the event’s founder, said Man Alive has but one purpose.
“If we can bring one person to Christ that day, then we’ve done our job,” he said. “Anything else is a bonus.”
The theme for this year’s event, “A Time of Transformation”, is taken from Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed...”
