A 16-year-old juvenile was taken to Sierra View District Hospital Wednesday morning after the car he was riding in was broadsided by a U.S. Postal Service mail-delivery truck.

The crash happened around 9:40 a.m. at the intersection of D Street and Thurman Avenue.

The Porterville Police Department reports the driver of the four-door sedan was eastbound on

Thurman Avenue and didn’t yield to oncoming traffic after crossing the posted stop sign.

In turn, the northbound postal truck broadsided the car, trapping the 16-year-old passenger and the driver inside. Porterville Fire Department personnel were able to extricate the pair.

The teen complained of pain and was subsequently taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Police say neither the driver of the postal truck nor the driver of the sedan were injured.
