Man arrested on suspicion of terrorist threats, stalking

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

A 22-year-old Porterville man was arrested Saturday for allegedly attempting to break into a woman’s home and threatening to kill her, the Porterville Police Department reports.

According to reports, officers responded to the 100 block of South Cottage Street just before 4 a.m. Saturday for reports of an unwanted subject.

When they arrived, officers contacted the suspect, identified by police as Arturo Vargas, along with a 17-year-old juvenile standing in front of the home.

Further investigation revealed that Vargas and the teen attempted to force entry into the home and were making threats to kill the alleged victim.

Additionally, the victim reported efforts to hide from Vargas who had reportedly been harassing her since January.

Vargas and the teen were arrested on suspicion of terrorist threats, stalking, and conspiracy.

Vargas was booked into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department and the teen into the Juvenile Detention Facility.
